It's that time of year again. I've said before I don't make "resolutions", just goals, something I want to attempt to accomplish or do in the upcoming year. I've got several items on my list this year. I've noticed a theme in my list. Health (physical, mental, spiritual) and less stress. Sounds good to me!
Here is my list for 2012 (not in any particular order).
Purge- I want to purge the apartment of "stuff". I have way too much junk it's overwhelming, especially when it comes time to clean. I can't get everything organized because there's nowhere to put everything. It always looks cluttered, no matter what I do. I would also like to put up a collage of pictures. I saw an awesome idea online using black frames, arranged to make the shape of a heart on a large space of wall. I would love to try that.
Eat better- this will probably be the most difficult. I don't like alot of veggies and LOVE meat. In Texas, if you don't eat meat people wonder what is wrong with you. Randy is joining me on this one. We will both be starting by cutting way back on meat. Meat (and eggs) will become more of an occasional treat, instead of a daily necessity. The hard part (at least for me) is the veggies (I'm not very fond of them). I like more than I used to, and there are many I have never tried before. Then there is my pickyness for what I do like. I dont like them raw. And I can't stand the texture of anything "stringy" like lettuce, carrots, coconut...(I know, lettuce doesnt have much taste, but it's so stringy!). This was all brought on by a couple of documentaries "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" (Randy hasn't seen this one yet but I HIGHLY recomend it. You can find it on Netflix) and "Forks Over Knives" (also good).
Christmas- This year I'm way behind, and I really don't like it. I'm usually ready by the end of the first week of December. Next year, I plan on being ready by Thanksgiving. I already know what two family members are getting ;-)
Marathon- For fun I intend to watch every series and movie of Star Trek (thanks to Netflix for having them all). Five series has a total of 28 seasons. I may have to "stretch" it into two years.
SOTM- I would also like to continue our (Mom, Diana and Me) study on the Sermon On The Mount, and have memorized at least half of it by the end of the year.
Of course these don't include other things that come up. Right now there are four ladies in my church who are expecting who I get to make gifts for. I also have a couple of projects I already need to finish. It's going to be a busy year, but it should also be very rewarding. Maybe I should try blogging more too. I should learn to post pics, then I can add before and after of my purging, and all my homemade goodies.
