In the past I had wondered how long Adam & Eve were in Eden before the fall and if/how many kids. Well, today it hit me, they didn't have any pre-fall. If they had, their pre-fall children would have been born into perfection. They would have been without sin, which means even after the fall, they still would have been perfect because THEY didn't sin. Noah was the only one God found worth saving from the flood so obviously there weren't any perfects running around.
Also, if they hadn't had any pre-fall children they must not have been in Eden very long (two young adults, perfect, naked and married...come on, we all know they weren't there long). I find this really pathetic on mankind. Can't go a few days without destroying the world.
Maybe Lucifer got all big-headed right after God finished creating everything. Then got angry after being kicked out "well, I'll show him! I'll turn his own creation against him! We'll see just how 'perfect' everything is when I get done with it."
Yep, this is what my over-worked, sleep-deprived mind comes up with.

2011 A Year In Review
As usual, I was going through last years calendar to make sure I didn't miss writing down any birthdays in the new calendar. WOW! I was sure busy. I had fun seeing what all I had done over the year, remembering things related to events written on the calendar. I thought I'd share some of them.
2011 consisted of: 2 Bible studies, various "ladies night" get togethers, CNA testing (after a couple reschedules), several trips to SA (the last of which the ac on my truck decided not to work...in May), 2 new jobs (one was just a temp), several baby showers for church/work (along with the sewing/crafting that goes into the gifts), several potlucks/voluntering/get togethers/events with the church family, planned my sisters skype baby shower, baby shower for my sister and my brothers girlfriend, the birth of TWO neices (both in September), and going from 2 cars to 1 because the inspection sticker expired and will cost too much for repairs, and deciding to sell truck and get a new(er) vehicle (haven't done yet).
Looking forward, I already see alot coming up in 2012. Possibly even busier than last year!

New Years 2012
It's that time of year again. I've said before I don't make "resolutions", just goals, something I want to attempt to accomplish or do in the upcoming year. I've got several items on my list this year. I've noticed a theme in my list. Health (physical, mental, spiritual) and less stress. Sounds good to me!
Here is my list for 2012 (not in any particular order).
Purge- I want to purge the apartment of "stuff". I have way too much junk it's overwhelming, especially when it comes time to clean. I can't get everything organized because there's nowhere to put everything. It always looks cluttered, no matter what I do. I would also like to put up a collage of pictures. I saw an awesome idea online using black frames, arranged to make the shape of a heart on a large space of wall. I would love to try that.
Eat better- this will probably be the most difficult. I don't like alot of veggies and LOVE meat. In Texas, if you don't eat meat people wonder what is wrong with you. Randy is joining me on this one. We will both be starting by cutting way back on meat. Meat (and eggs) will become more of an occasional treat, instead of a daily necessity. The hard part (at least for me) is the veggies (I'm not very fond of them). I like more than I used to, and there are many I have never tried before. Then there is my pickyness for what I do like. I dont like them raw. And I can't stand the texture of anything "stringy" like lettuce, carrots, coconut...(I know, lettuce doesnt have much taste, but it's so stringy!). This was all brought on by a couple of documentaries "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" (Randy hasn't seen this one yet but I HIGHLY recomend it. You can find it on Netflix) and "Forks Over Knives" (also good).
Christmas- This year I'm way behind, and I really don't like it. I'm usually ready by the end of the first week of December. Next year, I plan on being ready by Thanksgiving. I already know what two family members are getting ;-)
Marathon- For fun I intend to watch every series and movie of Star Trek (thanks to Netflix for having them all). Five series has a total of 28 seasons. I may have to "stretch" it into two years.
SOTM- I would also like to continue our (Mom, Diana and Me) study on the Sermon On The Mount, and have memorized at least half of it by the end of the year.
Of course these don't include other things that come up. Right now there are four ladies in my church who are expecting who I get to make gifts for. I also have a couple of projects I already need to finish. It's going to be a busy year, but it should also be very rewarding. Maybe I should try blogging more too. I should learn to post pics, then I can add before and after of my purging, and all my homemade goodies.

'A Day in the Life of a CNA'
So, after a [slightly nutty] 2-10 shift with the 2 slackers (by slackers I mean the 2 "co" aides I work with once a week which everyone feels sorry for me having to work with them, including someone who doesnt work there), and getting only 5-5 1/2 hrs of interrupted sleep, I went in for my 6-2 shift. It started great. We were right on time, everything was going smoothly. But that changed FAST. Before breakfast was even finished.
8:00/8:30 Miss P had to go to the bathroom. I took her to her room, she couldnt hold it till she got on the toilet...diarrhea everywhere. I cleaned it off the floor (while she is on her bedside commode, still going), wiped it off her boot and shoe, and cleaned her up as much as possible while she was sitting. Got co-aide to help her stand up while I wiped her clean and got her into bed.
8:45/9:00 Mr. W has to use the bedside commode (sometimes he is continent, sometimes incontinent). I caught him trying to get on it himself, he cant walk. (Actually, he was wanting on the trash can).
9:15ish Mr. S has a dr appt at 9:45am. He has an accident...stool all over himself, bedroom floor and his bathroom. I have to clean him up, run to laundry to find him some pants, send him off to the van to transport to his appt., clean up the floor, toilet seat, complete change of his bedding.
Go to get Mr. W off the commode to find him already sitting [halfway] in his wheel chair, pants still down, go get hall LVN to help get him up so we can get his pants up and put him in bed.
The whole time I'm dealing with feces the float aide is on the other hall getting Mr. LW to go to the hospital and others are getting ready for 2-3 new residents to come in later in the day.
Have not done any of my 4 showers yet (typically whoever is not done by lunches doesnt get done that day)
10:00 Lunch
10:15 Find out everyone is looking for me...wha????
10:20 Orientation (about a month in a half into the job) for the rest of the day. Leaving only 2 aides on the floor on a day when the usual 3 doesnt seem enough and still no showers. one aide got to do his 3 showers, but the other aide and I were unable to do our combined 7. I was never told about orientation. And they didnt bother scheduling an aide to cover for me.
So I'm stuck stitting through typical boring orientation (which always includes videos) trying not to fall asleep from boredom and tiredness. Usually I'm fine as long as I'm n my feet working, sit down and then I feel exhausted.
Oh, and did I mention its also the first day of that time of month?

My Mom
It's almost Mother's Day again. The time when children honor, remember, bless their mom's. So in honor of my mom, I will blog about my mom. Leona N. Andre Irvin.
In spite of much financial difficulty, my mom stayed home to care for, raise, and homeschool all five of her children. She did not go out and get a job until the last one graduated from homeschool.
She knew that if we were to enjoy learning it would have to be made fun for us. So, she often let us help choose our school books, because if we enjoyed it, we would learn more.
She made sure we had scripture reading and memory DAILY. We had to go to church every week. No excuses.
She made sure we all knew how to cook and clean. If it wasn't done right, we had to do it again, and again until it was right.
She passed on her creativity. She taught me not only to cook/bake, but to sew and cross stitch. Together we learned to make cards.
She taught me how to keep house, budget, plan a menu/shopping list, and take care of myself and my own family.
God and family were/are the two most important things to her. And it showed in how she lives and raised us.
If we misbehaved, we were disciplined.
When we needed love, she loved us.
When sick, she cared for us.
When we needed prayer, she prayed for us.
She made sure holidays and birthdays were special and exciting for everyone.
She made TWO wedding dresses (one for each daughter) in six months. Plus a practice dress made out of muslin for each. (four dresses in six months!)
We love getting together and planning our next creative projects, showing off completed projects, and even creating our projects together.
We love hanging out in F'burg, any craft or fabric store, either to look, buy or plan.
So what did my mom teach me?
-To love God
-To love learning
-How to take care of myself and my home
-To be creative
-The importance of family
-To enjoy the simple things in life
-To work hard
Most of what I learned was from my mom. And most my memories growing up involve her in some way.
I have the most wonderful Mom!
"Her children arise up, and call her blessed."
Psalm 31:28a
